Born and raised in the deep South, Charles is anything but a Southerner, unless you're thinking Southern California. The creative propensity of that region; the desire to not imitate but create; the obsession with walking down the path less traveled all define the motivations of Southern Californians. The desire for unique "one of a kind" thinking is a description that fits that region and fits this artist. Even though Southern California provides most creative opportunities, Charles and his wife Katherine have chosen to raise their family in Scottsdale, AZ.
He has six sons and one daughter ranging in ages from thirty-five to eight. Most of his time outside of his creative endeavors is devoted to activities (mostly Lacrosse) with his wife Katherine and their four at-home children: Davis, Freshman at Scottsdale Community college and will be playing attack for the Club Lacrosse team. Our only princess, Noël is a Sophomore at Chaparral and Ian, the first string Mustang's Lacrosse Goalie and eighth grader at Cocopah Jr. High. Justin is our third grader at Sequoia Elementary.
Nicholas, 35, wife Julie and daughter Harper live in the Sacramento area. Garrett is graduating from Arizona State University in August 2005. Austin is a Junior at ASU studying pre-law and playing on their Club Lacrosse team.
Though raised Southern Baptist, Charles converted to the Episcopal Church in 1964 at St. Phillip's In the Hills in Tucson, Arizona while serving as a USAF Lieutenant at Davis-Monthan AFB. In 1992, after a year's study, his wife Katherine and their entire family made the transition to Orthodox Christianity at St. Luke's in Garden Grove, California.
